I have just landed in Milano after a week of jetting around the streets of London celebrating the new trends for Spring Summer 2012. Between the main tent at Somerset House for Issa, Ashish, Osman, Todd Lynn, the Freemasons Hall for the “up and comings” to the trendy Old Sorting office for Irwin & Jordan, Basso & Brooke, the vast warehouse at The Dairy across the opposite end of the city for Pringle & House of Holland, to the glamorous ballroom at The Savoy for Erdem and then back to Euston Station to watch the TopShop sponsored new generation designers Mary Katradzou & co. - I certainly walked the red soles off my Louboutins. Luckily this year London Fashion Week put on a buyers bus to scoot the likes of me around, which is great when it worked, but when all else failed and there wasn´t a single taxi to be seen and the bus was late, we found a rika-shaw and cycled across town (not us but a guy on a bike pulling us – obviously). This is exactly what happened after the Markus Lupfer presentation held at St Martins Lane hotel in order to get back to Somerset House. Quite a hilarious experience although at the same time probably quite dangerous. The things we do for fashion!
OLD SORTING OFFICE
After all the dashing around, razzle dazzle, blogger papping and ego massaging that makes London Fashion Week, London Fashion Week the SS12 shows are over and my two hour flight from London to Milan was a welcomed break and time to reflect. And on reflection, I am leaving London energised! From the street style lingering outside the shows to the runway shows themselves the atmosphere is electric. There is a stand out consensus that London has a hardcore passion for fashion.
STREET STYLE
The big names Burberry, Matthew Williamson, Pringle of Scotland that showcased this season give the week the weight and credibility that it needs to drag the Anna Wintours of the world across the pond, but it is the Christopher Kanes, Jonathan Saunders and Mary Katradzou´s of the world that are creating the hype. The exhibition at Somerset House featuring loads of different brands and designers is also improving year on year. Wandering around I get completely sucked in by the gems and jewels on display from the likes of Mawi, Fiona Paxton, Atelier Swarovski Crystal and more often than not you get to speak to the designers themselves, which is a treat. Between busy schedules its sometimes difficult to give the Exhibition the attention it deserves, which is where the Aesthetica Sunday brunch is a must. For a few hours Somersert is closed down for buyers and press for a morning of champagne, canapés and a DJing, which is always a packed out event and gives you the chance to wander and browse in a buzzy atmosphere.

BASSO & BROOKE

BORA AKSU
So that’s a quick run down of what I´ve been up to the last week. Key trends coming through without a doubt are colour, colour, colour and lots of it! In shades of pastel all the way to bright bold colour blocking prints. Metallics are back and sequins are everywhere but in a softer more feminine approach.
JONATHAN SAUNDERS

Favourite show is still Jonathan Saunders. Show with the most OTT drama for me was Giles held at the Court House complete with massive swan head dresses and dramatic ball gowns. Erdem´s pretty perfection left me speechless. Issa offered bouncy hair and a positive fun attitude, very representative of HRH. A dress form Mary Katradzou is on my wish list and some new brands are signed……which your find out more about later! Even the dogs are fashionable at fashion week!
